Apologies for spending more time on the other site the last few days, but I made the trip to Antakya, my first time to Turkey's earthquake zone. It's as apocalyptic as everyone says. It looks like a city one month after a cataclysmic earthquake rather than one year.

In the very center (köprübaşı), by the Atatürk statue, and going up Atatürk and Cumhuriyet avenues, virtually everything is either rubble (torn down) or heavily damaged. The historical old city is full of skeletal remains of undemolished buildings. To me that's even more haunting.
