The Washington Post makes it sound like the Supreme Court ruled on the substance of the case, but it hasn’t. And lower courts now must take it up again. All the Justices did was pluck themselves out of the situation and fly off like the Lorax.
I can't stop thinking about the Lorax simile, tho'. The Lorax was responsible, issue-focused, and ultimately ignored until he was proven devastatingly correct. SCOTUS needs a metaphor here with more capricious whimsy?

without even mentioning that the whole point of these laws is to create ambiguity or fear so nothing about today prevents an in-hospital doctor today feeling like they need to consult with a lawyer before being able to determine something qualifies as an "emergency" abortion.
