Two elections in a row a Nigel Farage led third party has taken enough votes in England to send a large number of seats to the Tories (2019) or Labour/Lib Dems (2024). In 2019 the Brexit Party stood tactically and won no seats, in 2024 Reform didn't and won 5. That is something to be worried about.

In the handwringing about 2019 being Labours Worst Ever Result was always a conspicuous silence about how Farage stood down candidates with pro-Brexit incumbents in 2019. This split the vote against Labour in many of the Red Wall seats, but this was blamed on Labour being too left wing.
