The self-regulating part becomes obvious when you realize it’s now within the bounds of the law for Biden to just get rid of Trump right now. Biden says he will still respect the law even after today’s decision but it’s literally legal for him to do whatever he wants.

I mean, this SCOTUS has clearly signaled they wouldn't let a Democratic president do it unless there was an obvious benefit to a Republican president down the line that outweighed the present day situation.

Nixon left under the same system of self-regulation. He resigned, he wasn’t booted out. And the only reason he got heat to begin with is that Watergate was unsportsmanslike.
