Yeah as far as I know Visa's fraud department (or maybe just the part of Visa that handles fraud for my credit union? no idea how it's organized) still does this in general. They'll text you to verify charges and if you hit "no", you get a phone call.

Of course the key distinction here is that they might ask me to verify "the name on the account" or something like that, but won't ask me for my SSN, security questions, etc. - but obviously that's close *enough* to a scam that it starts to blur peoples' understanding.
