It is hard to believe SCOTUS would say that a President is immune to federal criminal law, but not state law, especially given their purported concern with vindictive prosecutors causing Presidents to be, uh, cautious.

If the president can only pardon federal crimes then it becomes harder for his minions to carry out all sorts of illegal acts at his order— even though he himself is immune. Of course, there are locations only subject to federal law , if any law at all.
