That's what Eusebius wrote in 323 after Christ. However comptemporary biblical scholars reject this line of thought.

It would be interesting to know who contemporary biblical scholars think were the authors of the gospels & Acts and how they came to their conclusions, but I expect that their answers would be a bit out of reach for non-specialists like me.
