The only way to keep up the doomer idea that the COVID situation is as bad as it ever was (ie before vaccines) is to eventually start denying that vaccines do anything. I've seen this happen with multiple people

i had someone react to my news of getting bad COVID (despite a booster in April) with “man do those vaccines even do anything?”— if I hadn’t been boosted i’d have probably been hospitalized! i nearly screamed lol
