I think it's because there are actual titles in the UK (like "Sir", for an obvious example), so there's less tendency to turn (important) jobs into titles. You'll see Brits making the same mistake in reverse sometimes - "Mr. Biden, the President" and the like.

It’s not a mistake to call him Mr. Biden, the president. It’s a linguistic style choice that almost no one in America is a big enough dork to care about. I wouldn’t even blink to hear a Brit say that.
