I liked The Swimmer but the first scene sets the wrong tone for the movie and it’s probably because I’m pretty sure that was shot by the original director who was then replaced by an uncredited Sydney Pollack.

I just read the short story it was based on. I’m definitely right. everything I didn’t like about that first 10 minutes of the movie is not in the short story.
