I think this conversation is important for the profession. When I started out, I thought just explaining events would help students see the oppressive systems. But I realized it just overwhelmed them. I had to start building narratives of hope that people had to face those systems.

As in the sense of focusing more on positive sides of past events/uplifting stories or in the sense of trying to orient the field more towards enabling positive change in the present? ...or, well, both I guess?
