Was in CT that day watching it unfold & will never forget the faces of the young noon hour news anchors who were hearing the second it went from incident to massacre, but outside of CT, which already had strong laws, none of these killings have had any national impact
Absolutely. I would say Republicans failed them. The majority of Americans believe in stricter gun control. Republicans are against any sort of gun reform.
Yes we did. We let a handful of NRA gun nuts get us to the point where the US has 400 million guns and consumers are buying 8 billion bullets a year. No other country has embraced our gun death culture more than US.
And the 10 children killed, and 30 injured, daily by bullets in the USA
Most, of course, not middle class white children.
This is not to minimise the horror and awfulness of that day in Sandy Hook (and it’s aftermath - Alex Jones eg) but just to put it in context
As small children, in a safe & loving location saw violence that makes grown, professional men cry, vomit, require therapy… And they learned no one cares enough. Why participate in the process?
Repealing 20th century means kids are property. Property they care about?
