At this point I don't fucking care if we're monsters. We need to go full kaiju on these fascists or we're not going to have a democracy anymore. Being reasonable is CLEARLY NOT WORKING.

I get the sentiment, but we're talking about throwing out the Constitution for a "benevolent" dictator, but a dictator nonetheless. Just a matter of time before the next dictator who may not be so benevolent.
