I’m a complete layperson, but I’ve been feeling “guilty” and then probation if it wasn’t a hung jury. First offense, no minimum for this crime (so I’ve heard). But he’ll be a convicted felon.

If he’s going to jail (big if) it will absolutely be self surrender. Rich and connected means you get to do it on your own time.
