My rule of thumb is to listen to everything in an artist’s catalogue up until about a week or two out from the show, and then I don’t listen to anything by them for that last stretch so that every song sounds fresh when I see them live

ooh I like that idea! I usually do it when I get the tickets, so it varies on how long before the show
