So, glass half full, this year has been better. I've spent my whole life around the Great Lakes so I take the abundance for granted. Climate change noted here so far is a bit warmer (no more backyard rinks), slightly more violent wind events, species creep and, recently, closer big forest fires .

About 40 years ago, there was an attempt to pipe water from the Great Lakes to the southwest. It was not well-received by the Great Lakes states, so it didn’t happen. Conservation efforts are not enough here: the population growth exceeded the carrying capacity of infrastructure 20 years ago.
