For what it's worth, I've been listening to oil and gas executives repeat this same reasoning over the last 18 months, right down to comments about how "no one wants to see demand destruction" by ending gas connections to new homes.

This is exactly why I'll volunteer my time next election to whichever local candidate could help push to form a minority government to turn this nonsense around. Highly motivating.
