One of my roommates in grad school c.2013 had a lot of arguments that I'd recognize today as TERF talking points about womanness requiring certain biological functions, some of which are noble sufferings, and that trans women are basically stolen valor because they get to skip the noble sufferings

There is definitely a degree of that, too. Every time I hear a TERF mention that womanness is inherent in having a cervix or a uterus, I think about the people close to me with hysterectomies.
