I don't understand what the heck is going on with VanCAF right now. Publicly announcing a lifetime ban of a local artist for minimally explained reasons via an unsigned instagram post? A post that also suggests they now have to replace a bunch of staff and board members? And now it's taken down
VanCAF means a lot to me! I have been a part of the show since day zero. In the early days, I made the floor maps and flyers. I designed the volunteer shirts. I set up tables. If you mailed books to the first VanCAF, I personally drove them to the show in my car.
I'm honestly kind of conflicted about attending future VanCAFs after this whole mess. It was one of the (free) events that I could go to and support local artists/comic writers directly. But their attempt at damage control looks super sloppy at best and isn't earning any good faith imo.
