Having friends who you can disagree with and still hang out with no hard feelings are friends worth keeping. There are limits to this of course, but friends will learn what those are and respect them.

Those limits by the way? It's when a "friend" says or does something that is so against your core principles, the right course of action is to let them go. Being someone's friend means you don't cross certain well-defined lines on purpose and includes crossing your own principles.

I'd also extend this to your workplace relationships. I value a lot of my co-workers even when we're butting heads. There are some however I wouldn't mind seeing take a head-first dive into an empty pool and I let them know it.
