what really annoys me is that the first one is really good, like the dude isn't just some hack, he has talent in there somewhere but it's subsumed to the desire to be like in the Con Royalty club with like wil wheaton

I honestly don’t get how he even does the con circuit. Like, it’s been so long that most attendees have probably never even heard of him, and the ones that have are presumably pissed that he still hasn’t written the third book. Dude makes George R.R. Martin look like Stephen King.
