It's really weird how radicals treat their disfavored ideology like a literal plant rather than an idea. We still have communists, too. You cannot kill an idea. (Also weird use of quotation marks, as if the major communist power didn't have a swarm of nukes and an army of spies aimed at us)

And personally, I don’t dignify the political forces that resulted in 70-85 million dead and incalculable destruction by calling them an “idea.” After that horrible war, not enough care was taken to prevent recurrence. Instead, far right governments were supported and installed around the world.

Then of course the two powers embarked on proxy wars that ruined chances for progress, e.g. in our case, Vietnam.

U.S. govt actually recruited many Nazis after the war to assist them in their anti-Soviet campaign. Both U.S. and Soviet Union embarked on a nuclear arms race that put the human race as a whole in peril. HUAC believed that we had supported the “wrong side” in the war.

I don't have a time machine, so I can't possibly untangle the myriad events and changes that would lead up to the state of the current political factions if the Cold Warriors tried to stamp out fascism. Also kinda pointless at this juncture.
