Nader opening his trap has me flashing back to the 2000 elections when people claimed there was no meaningful difference between Al Gore and George W. Bush. How bananas was that in retrospect? And I believed it. Really did. Dang.

Same here, alas. Despite Gore's strong environmental credentials, I still saw him as "Mr. Tipper" and had no stomach for voting for a potential "censor-in-chief". To be sure, I (and many others) had no idea how bad things were about to get - definitely a failure of imagination there.
