You are absolutely correct. Unfortunately, elections are state run and we have a psychotic Supreme Court, so there isn’t much that can be done on the nat’l scale. State by state things happen (WI, eg), but the worst offenders (red states) have to elect Dems to reverse it, which is hard (see GA).

It at least needs to be a conversation. As for states, yeah, that's a great reason to not let the presidential race suck up all the air - state and local races remain important, so if people can't bring themselves to vote Biden, they should research down-ballot voting
