It has been a very long time, but one of them was essentially "It didn't even hurt their career! They won Grammys for their next album and are still touring today!" Which is such a willful or incompetent disregard for how thoroughly their sales cratered that it's breathtaking.

They were an absolutely dominant group (country or otherwise) until they were blacklisted. Two albums diamond and one on its way until country radio dropped them. (It had already sold six million and they were still in the midst of the cycle.) Awards are sympathy. Careers don't thrive on sympathy.
