Poor marketing decisions which failed to evolve. Put everything in their game without obviously stating, "Please don't put everything in YOUR game" Spent more time explaining genre minutiae than explaining game fun.

Your second point is something I ruminate on repeatedly. It’s not really a system. It’s a tool kit. And as it should have kitchen sink options. But they really don’t get into explaining to a perspective game master what to use and what not to use. The genre books do somewhat, but insufficiently
