It's a valuable way to add your perspective on a post while sharing it to your followers, and the way the original post is largely inaccessible if either party blocks the other helps mitigate dunks/harassment.

It's a shame that you can't look at a post's quotes like on Twitter; but in the absence of private accounts that might also allow people to share more personal anecdotes while only notifying the original poster and their followers.
