I keep hoping the next 80s Austin will reveal itself to me somehow. I kinda suspect it's one of the rust belt cities. Maybe Philly? I dunno. Weather aint great in the rust belt, but many have good transit, good walkability, affordable housing, cool architecture, art/music, and diverse populations.

honestly don’t think you can get there anywhere rent takes more than 25 percent of your income working for minimum wage and the small number of places where that’s true tend to have other barriers to attracting a critical mass of artists
