physical media is inevitably going to become e-waste. don't buy CDs or DVDs of the media you love. it's a terrible waste of money when 10TB+ hard drives are so cheap, and they may take longer, but they will degrade, and inevitably suffer the same fate as legal digital copies. torrent it instead.

you can't stop me (ironically corps are stopping me however, I don't wanna have to do a 20 step process just to watch a BD on linux jfc) More seriously though, I'm mostly buying stuff to then frame at some point in the future (Furi's vinyl is beautiful). There is also a silly meditative aspect.

eh, I'm doing both right now. I still enjoy buying CDs and DVDs, but I also own a media server that holds 14TB. At least sometimes the money spent on physical media goes to the creators or a local record store, etc

More chance I can watch it in ten years on physical media that I ripped than apple. They revoke licenses all the time on purchases videos.
