Now I'm thinking about how so many post-1980 comic series had decent runs of 12 to 18 issues before things started to go off the rails. Back when series were given that amount of time to find their marks before getting axed.

It really became apparent when I started gathering material for binding. Firestorm, Alpha Flight, Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, Wonder Woman... JLI and Suicide Squad to a lesser extent, but there was a definite vibe shift. New Mutants dodged it because of a radical reset with Bill Sienkiewicz.
