Many candidates backing forward are doing so under the larger parties for pragmatic reasons. The Forward party is only 2 years old and are working on establishing themselves in more states. I believe the are at about 13-15 now.

But when are they gonna put up county and city candidates in California, when ballot access at that level is non-partisan? If they’re progressive, why not use California, where pulling votes should be relatively easy, to get some experience and name recognition?
