some of this is an institutional problem but a lot of it is also that the 2010 and 2014 midterms left a generational hole that is acutely felt now because of all of the would-be leaders that never got their foot in the door

people definitely talked about this at the time but it was underrated as a consequence that those elections were like a Terminator came back from the late 2020s to wipe out the future of the party
