I think if an LLM is analogous to a human or a monkey or something, the calculator is closer to a grasshopper. The calculator itself doesn't understand anything, but what it is doing is the building blocks of understanding

The LLM, like a calculator, is just executing functions that a human programmed into it. That is all. It does not understand anything. But I don't think we're going to agree here so best of luck.
