The huge Labour majority is an artefact of the UK's insane - increasingly tinkered-with - electoral system. It does not reflect a popular enthusiasm for the vacuous, cynical Starmer or his reactionary centrist party. Labour's vote is down from the two Corbyn elections, their share only slightly up.

Election result reflects pained exhaustion after 14 years of sadistic Tory misrule, lack of confidence in the shambolic Tory party, & polarisation, with hard-right, fascistic attitudes burgeoning as a reaction to a changing world, activist breakthroughs, & leftwards progression among younger people.
