Five years ago Kaspersky moved its own infrastructure from Russia to Switzerland, precisely to avoid any appearance of being controlled by the Russian government. I guess that hasn't worked.

There's just way too much danger of supply-chain attacks after NotPetya to trust Kaspersky, IMHO. It's become clear that you can't just assume the best about third-party tools, and Kaspersky is a perfect vector for delivering malicious payloads.
