I don't think I've ever seen the words "just use Linux" in a context that doesn't completely miss the point.
I posted about how the EU is suing MS for bundling Teams with Office. Got that as a reply. Yes, let me "just" abandon software without a good Linux equivalent.
FTR I already AM using Linux
Saw this kinda thing just today in reference to school-supplied Chromebooks, which...you literally can't. Like I get it's a generally more personal OS than anything else on the market short of programming your own, but there's a certain brand of Linux guy with a penguin where their brain should be
Lack of equivalent software alternatives seems to be something the majority of people I've talked to about linux don't understand. During the recent thing with recall or w/e it was called, I had to mute "linux" so I wouldn't be rolling my eyes 24/7 at people misleading others in that regard.
I remember several years ago I was running a lightweight obscure distro on an old machine for volunteer computing (BOINC), someone on a forum had the same issue as me where the machine periodically hard-froze, we wanted a script to just reboot it every day.
People suggested to get a *new machine*.
