Absolutely, I had a friend (this is why he is no longer) that lost his temper and smashed all his daughters lego sets on a shelf and threw them in a bin when she talked back to him because she didn't want to decide between Keeping her Lego vs a Computer at 12. State didn't see it as abuse...but...
