OH! ResearchGate is GREAT!! You can contact scholars and ask for their papers. Not as ideal as GS, but most scholars LOVE sharing their work! (www.researchgate.net)

I hope you can find a great alternative you can use at home, but if you have a community college library nearby, you might be able to use their computers on campus, at least until an alternative springs up.

I’m also in this position. There are other ways to get access to academic materials, but Google Scholar is/was an important one.

The National Library of Medicine PubMed Central has free full-text journal articles in the "biomedical and life sciences", which seems to include social sciences like psychology and sociology. I don't know if this is useful to you, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case.
