This week in 1958 — Hume Cronyn starred on ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS as a broker who ingeniously kills a client. Cronyn also played a man obsessed w/ murder methods in Hitchcock's SHADOW OF A DOUBT (1943). And he adapted ROPE (1948) — a tale of a "perfect murder" — for Hitchcock from the play!

And by all accounts, Cronyn and Jessica Tandy beat the marriage odds, remaining happy and together for over fifty years. (I found this pleasantly surprising when I learned it last year, but it’s probably not news to you.🥰)
