Exactly this. It really, truly has been unrelentingly awful. It's been fourteen years of cruelty and since brexit it's just been a government hell bent on self enrichment. No sense of public service whatsoever. Absolutely unforgiveable.

Say what you like about Starmer, and I do, but he shares my complete po faced sense of humour failure when people arse around on public money. Also I get the distinct sense that he dislikes the same tories I dislike. Properly dislikes them. I'm down with that.

Spot on, both of you. The task ahead is daunting though and reminds me of a scene in A very British coup: Freshly elected PM, with landslide, is quietly asked by a friend something like "we're going to get it right this time, aren't we?" I pray to God we do.
