I think that’s where I’m worried as well, all this time I was told I had a panic disorder or it was anxiety by my GP! It’s only been the last two years where I’ve learned about environmental overwhelm and I’m positive it’s actually me being overstimulated not a panic attack

This was EXACTLY my experience! I used to call what happened “anxiety” but my current dr told me I was wrong — its actually overwhelm and physical discomfort. It’s honestly been life-changing to hear it wasn’t fear I was feeling all the time. There’s so much more you can do when it isn’t fear

ADHD also frequently comes hands in hand with various anxiety problems and/or depression. I describe it to people as like having a lower noise floor.

Definitely a thing! I don’t deal with crowded, noisy situations well, and I’ve gotten less tolerant of them as I’ve gotten older. I’ll remove myself from the space as quickly as I can manage if it fills up with loud people. It’s not just people, though. I dread the upcoming fireworks this week.
