Where did you hear that? It's pretty standard to include gender spectrums from Indigenous communities. It's hollow af like land acknowledgements but I haven't heard it be called cultural appropriation.

I think it's a pretty clear case of appropriation to put an indigenous term on the side of a police vehicle owned by the state apparatus continuing the colonization of native land but as a white guy from America it's not really for me to definitively say.
