All due respect, i could never crack the other souls games — felt brutally punishing to die over and over again in the same hallway or whatever. ER is the first time i got into one, because when things got really bad i could always go another direction and find something else (and grow stronger)

different strokes for different folks i haven't beaten elden ring and have no desire to go back to it. open world just makes the game both too easy and too boring, imo meanwhile, i'm thinking of replaying DS3 yet again i'm not saying elden ring is "objectively worse" just that it was worse for me

That was my initial experience with DS1, but pushed through partly because I was tired of giving in to rage quitting(my reason for stopping back then). I used DS1 to overcome that. After that I felt things click with skill making progression doable. I leveled up, even if my character didn't.

Same for me! I got frustrated I was stuck to a single content until I beat it. But that's why I like Elden Ring. I think having two types of Souls like (linear and open) would be the best thing, since it would allow people to go towards their preference.
