Seems to be a widespread feature on the right. Left-wing and centrist parties focus (not always well) on growing their appeal and getting their base to turn out to vote; right-wing ones on suppressing their opponents' voters.

Stop the Boats Stop the Votes Will be quite an easy change for their campaign leaflets.

We knew it was on the cards. Like the last gerrymandering, it'll probably backfire

Yes, they seem to be following the Modest Proposal very closely.

I'm a postal voter. Thankfully they Cult of Cons won't get a chance to enact this lunatic idea as they will be gone soon.

The article comments that left-wing voters are more likely to vote in person, but remember Tories have already been making noises about timing the election to be just after the university term starts to make it difficult for students to vote. Postal votes are the easiest safety for those people!

What I can't understand is why there has to be more than one party on the ballot paper.

Soon you will need a Conservative Party Membership card to vote.

Don't they ever tire of being nasty wee pricks? I'm tired of hearing the word "conservative" and fatigued by their scumbag faces.

Photo ID for voting, and age limits for smokers are probably designed to get us to ID cards. Not that I'd mind, except it's a Tory doing it.

It's precisely the same logic as the Photo ID, where they belatedly realised that the people least likely to have a passport or drive are the over-80s, and the pensioners most likely to have a bus pass are the poor.

You are all wrong, this is an absolutely brilliant idea. Every Labour or LD election agent knows that the postal vote swings massively to the right, due to the majority of PVs being cast by retired voters. This would utterly screw them, but for God's sake don't tell them.
