I’ve just read the piece. As expected, it’s vague and 95 percent vibes. He provided no specifics nor any historical context (FDR, Reagan) and gave Trumpian thoughts “more respected” or similar. Truly a waste of column inches and as always infuriates me that he has a lifetime sinecure doing it.

Dreyfuss was pretty great in that. But I’m sure Hackman would have aced it as well. (To be clear Dreyfuss is a major jerk irl). Quint’s disdain for the Hooper character in jaws was even more convincing because Shaw despised Dreyfuss.
