+1 to this. In 2016 I had coworkers who were former State Dept employees who said she was a good administrator. And she was advocating for universal health care in the 90s when that was not a common stance. I didn't like all her policy on everything but I didn't hold my nose to vote for her.

Yes, the power to fill ALL the presidential appointee positions in govt (not just judiciary) is significant. cf. Biden's EPA director (Regan) and Trump's EPA director (Pruitt). Those executive branch positions are massively consequential for govt policy. And often completely overlooked by voters.

I hang out on Fed govt employee forums. I see DHS rank and file routinely refer to him as "Saint Mayorkas" and he is apparently very generous with administrative leave around holidays.

Former background investigator here. Definitely not true. (Although I did sometimes ask about applicants' gaming, Discord use and social contacts.) At this point "Do not ever disclose classified info on War Thunder" ought to at least be part of the onboarding security briefing.

Classics, specialized in gender/sexuality. Current fed. First job out of school was an entry-level job with DHS. Later hired as a Special Agent (security clearance investigations). Now a federal Security Specialist. And people used to tease I'd be unemployable with a Classics degree!

Doesn't have to be a femme girl party. It can be a girl's gaming night where you offer a cap-sleeve t-shirt of Niko Bellic. Just the offer and being demonstrably included into a group of specifically women can mean a lot. Coming out can be terrifying and it's a way to show enthusiastic acceptance.

If a friend comes out as a transwoman, having a girl party where you offer makeup tips and accessories/clothes you don't use so she can try things and isn't buying everything from scratch is pretty much one of the most loving things you can do for that friend.
