Also tiresome because the US has, at least according to Carlton Lawson who has done extensive research, only executed exactly one person in our history for treason: a Mexican nation who never stepped foot on US soil. All others sentenced to die have had their sentences commuted.

I had no idea! I don't know Houston very well, though a large amount of my family ended up there (origin: east Texas), both my dad's generation and mine. It was where you went to make money or be prosperous, until the oil crash of the late 80s which hit Houston far far worse than everywhere else.

I grew up in Texas, where cokes was the generic thing, but It was dying even in the 70s, unless you were just talking generically. I think New Coke really killed it, because you never ever wanted to accidentally be handed a new coke. (I preferred Dr Pepper, but regularly drank coke UNTIL new coke).

I dunno, it seems like the early 2010s were far better than the 2020s. The dream of consuming video without any ads was becoming real. Amazon was not yet a dystopian hellscape of SEO'd and sponsored products. Though, twitter still only allowed 120 characters, so it was mixed.

Non-profits, labor unions, and corporations would lose their right to engage in political speech 60 days before an election or 30 days before a primary. The Citizens United decision surprised me: I expected 9-0, not 5-4. Political speech is core to the 1A.

Yet, I'd like to hold out hope. I don't think it's in the public's best interest to sentence him to prison, but maybe a few hundred hours of community service (conditions under approval, to make sure they're genuine) would do him, and the US in general, some good.
