The failure of aid individualises survival. Food does not reach those who are alone, less mobile, too weak to fight. Networks of the powerful and the brutal improve one’s chances. Individuals who know foreigners, who can put up a gofundme, have a huge advantage. 2/4

Ask Cambodians about four years of starvation, disease and random violence: a generation of people survived knowing deeply that they were utterly alone in the steps they took to live. For 17 years Gazans survived their ghettoisation with mutual aid: they survived together. 3/4
