Can anyone explain to me why the numbers on a chronograph are not sequential, 1 through 23?

Cheap chronograph. No quality control. Bought at dollar store. Just like their birthday cards with typos (I’m only kidding, I have no idea)

One of the chronograph faces is also non -linear. The tachymeter face is for tracking speed in units per hour, based on how much of a minute elapsed between start and finish.

That’s not the chronograph face, it’s the world time face. It will duplicate hours in the ring if there are too many cities in that time zone to fit under one. A bizzare design choice, but that is what they did.
