I'll never forget the doc about the serial killer in England who was targeting random women, and the cops decided they were sex workers (they weren't) which lead to more victims because folks thought they were safe. They also thought a hoax was him for a while and publicized an incorrect profile.

This is why Sam Little is America’s most prolific serial killer (But will never get that credit cuz 1- we have a cottage media industry about sexy white guys doing like 7 murders and 2- he was open about how getting away with it was easy b/c cops hate Black women)
